"Hot Rod" Michael Davis made a rare appearance in an Open Wheel Modified last Friday night, June 26 at the 250 Speedway in Cadiz, Ohio. After running second in his heat race, Michael rolled off seventh in the main event. The Rayland, Ohio native sported a strong car during the A-Main and wound up third in the final rundown. Michael Davis competed in both Super Late Model and Open Wheel Modified action last weekend (June 12-13) in his home state of Ohio. On Friday night at the Midway Speedway in Crooksville, Ohio, a $2,000 top prize was up for grabs in the Super Late Model division. Michael laid down the fastest time during qualifying and later ran second in his heat race. The Rayland, Ohio native was then involved in an early tangle in the 25-lap feature, which bent his spindle and later forced him to retire in the twelfth position.

At the Muskingum County Speedway in Zanesville, Ohio on Saturday evening, a $1,500 winner's check was on the line for the Open Wheel Modifieds. Michael was fifth quickest during time trials and later ran fourth in heat race action. After starting fourteenth on the grid in the A-Main, "Hot Rod" was able to gain three spots en route to an eleventh place performance. The Davis Motorsports team was back in Super Late Model action at the Midway Speedway in Crooksville, Ohio on Friday evening, June 5.
